I am currently reading Newbery Medal Winner “The Graveyard Book” by Neil Gaiman. Gaiman is the author of Coraline which was recently made into a movie. He has a distinct style(some might say warped). The first chapter of the book starts with a knife. Is this book to gruesome? Please comment if you dare.

The library is seeking your ideas for a poetry contest. Perhaps students could write poems about the earth to coincide with Earth Day, or maybe “I am” poems or poems that take the shape of their subject. Please submit your ideas A.S.A.P. and tell how you think winners should be chosen. We would love to receive student submissions by April 30th, just in time for “Poem in Your Pocket Day.”
